Our life in Pictures and Words

I have decided…it wasn’t just recently…that I live in the wrong part of the U.S. What? I hate the winter, every part of it. (I also hate spring, but that is just because of my allergies and sinuses). I have been in love with the weather this past couple of weeks, don’t tell Joel! haha I would soooooo rather be hot than cold. I would sooooo rather see the sun then snow. I would sooooo rather see green and color than brown and dead. I could go on, but I wont. I have been told countless of times by Joel that if I look for a job in the south and it pays good then we can move. Whether he is joking or not, I’m not sure. But I wont do it. I can’t leave my family, or his family. We’re far enough away from my family as it is, that I don’t like it, let alone going south. Although, I know my parents would be down every chance they could. I also couldn’t leave the fall. The fall is a close second in my heart. It’s full of great colors like summer, and just enough cool off that I don’t mind.

No this isn’t a post about me wanting to move or that we are moving! I just really wanted to share my good mood because of all the warm weather. I will never get sick of it! Plus, I run and workout more when its warm (:

I’ve had a few interviews these past few weeks, so hopefully something pans out. I would really enjoy the one that I interviewed for yesterday. Something new to learn, good hours, in town, and full time! But I will continue to do what I’m doing if it doesn’t work out, but I pray that it does, or something does!

Day 121:This is our new welcome stone from my Aunt Terrie and John. They gave us some money for a house warming present and I wanted a stone that said welcome, but all the ones that I found were more than I wanted to spend on a rock with words on it. Then I found this one, which wasn’t expensive and was prettier than what I had seen around!
121

Day 125: Our new fire pit in action
125.1

Day 126:A peony in bloom in the back yard. It’s nice to find unexpected flowers from the previous owners.
126

Day 127:I finally went through allllll the weeds along the back of the house. 1 because they weren’t pretty and 2 to keep the flowers that were actually there from dieing. I worked on it Friday and Saturday that weekend and Joel helped me finish on Sunday! It was a lot of work.
127

Day 128:Kitty and Jadys enjoying the windows opened.
128

Day 130:Jadys new toy. It’s the “pig” from Angry Birds. I just thought it was cute and it has a squeaker. She loves it!

Have a good rest of the week and enjoy the weather!

Sorry it’s been a month! I’ve not been doing so well with taking a picture everyday, because when it comes to some of my weekdays I do the same thing and I don’t want to take a picture of something just because I have to. So, there are some gaps here and there.

Day 86:For Joel’s Birthday I made him a Dutch Apple Pie from scratch. It was very good!
86

Day 87:The best lemonade ever!
87

Day 88:This day has 2 pictures to show you my project. It is a towel that I converted into a bag to carry. It has pockets to carry stuff in and then when you get to the beach or you’re backyard you take your stuff out of the pockets and unroll a nice towel to lay on with a pillow. Pretty cool!
88.1

88.2

Day 89:This started my spring break project. I painted our counter tops. The first day I tapped it all up and got them ready.
89

Day 90:Day 2 I did the first step of painting the base coat. I liked them better after the first step!
90

Day 91:After letting it dry over night, the second step is sponging on the 3 different colors…and letting them dry.
91

Day 92:We met my parents, sister, and my grandma in Anderson for lunch for our Birthdays! It was a wonderful time.
92

Day 93:On Monday, I finished the counter tops! Put on the last coat and then they had to dry for 3 days before we could put things back on. It was hard cooking without counter tops. It was a good thing the weather was nice so that we could grill out lots!
93

Day 94:One of my spring break days was nice and warm, so I got out the hammock and enjoyed the sun!
94

Day 95:Packing up to go to my Ohio home for Reds opening day and some time with my parents!
95.2

Day 96:Opening Day! I finally got to go to Opening Day! The weather was nice and had a great time catching up with my friend Knollman! I would so love to make it an every year thing..it was awesome!
96

Day 97:Friday, I spent the day with my mom. We went to Home Depot to find a plant to go in my new Reds planter (that I made, my mom’s idea). I will have to take a picture of it and post that as another day…but I’ll wait until I can finally put it outside…silly weather! Anyway, I got a cactus! I’m pretty excited because I have a hard time remembering to water my plants inside, so one that I don’t have to water all that much is a great one! lol I love it!
97

Day 98:Saturday, I went to Opening Night with my parents. As part of my Power Pack that I bought to go to Opening Day, I got a ticket to 9 other games this season! The second game was for Opening Night. My parents were lucky enough to find the tickets right next to me online! We had a great time…even though they lost. They announced at the beginning of the game that if there was a combined 11 strike outs between the Reds pitchers everyone would get a free pizza and a scoop of UDF ice cream….there were 10…so close! Part of opening Night they had fireworks and a red carpet where some of the players came out and signed autographs. I had forgotten about that part, but we did get there to see a few of them! I will make another post of opening weekend! lol
98

Day 99:Easter Sunday, I met Joel and the Childs’ in Indy for Easter at Drew and Becca’s. Before heading there, I dyed some eggs for my mom, she was having Easter for her side of the family at their house. So here are some of my eggs. It’s funny because I just used food coloring and that worked out great! A whole lot better than the kits they had when my sister and I were growing up! lol
99

Day 100:Jadys (:
100

Day 105:With Joel gone at a meet, I bought some crab legs and had them for dinner. He doesn’t like sea food so I took advantaged of it and made some crab legs. They were good!
105

Day 106:One of our outside projects was making a fire pit. The first picture is what the spot looked like before…it was were the well was that the old owners had (we moved it to the front yard to cover the actual well head). The second picture is the after of the day. Since then we have put stones around the top and we are going to get some round pavers to put around the top to make it stick out especially at night and not just a hole.
106.1

106.2

Day 108:A picture of our dinner. It was a new recipe of Grilled Cajun Chicken with Pasta. It was pretty good.
108

Day 111:My view from my side mirror when I was taking Jadys to the vet.
111

Day 113:Last Sunday, our outdoor project was removing the bushes and the thing in the middle. It took us forever! lol Joel cut all the branches off and we dug around it (there’s stone that is hard to dig around) then we hooked the roots/stump to the lawn mower and still couldn’t get them to budge. He called our neighbor that has a truck and he brought down an ax and him and Joel had the stumps out in 10min! It was a lot of work! lol Now I need to get some plants to put that spot!
113

Day 115:Jadys’ first time getting to use this for a run. She used it to go to the vet but I forgot to take a picture!
115

Have a good week!

Day 81: Our Lasagna soup we had for dinner. Not bad.
81

82

Day 83: Jadys after our wonderful run in the rain! She’s yawning in this picture. Guess she was tired!
83

Day 84: Joel and I last night at our Birthday party with friends. It’s a normal picture which doesn’t happen too often.
84

Have a good week! Birthday week for us (:

The weather is beautiful and I am stuck in a classroom. thus making my mind race a million times a minute. I am once again looking for a job. Story of my life. I feel like I have been patient and letting God put me in the right spot, but once again I’m in this situation so I doubt myself in letting him take control on the job front…I guess my patience was not patient enough…I’ll keep trying. The job i have now is guaranteed for next year, however it is not full time and the pay isn’t that good. I would love to keep this job. I enjoy it very much, even though I get stressed every once in a while, but who doesn’t. This is the environment I want to be in and I want to help kids, but I guess this is not the spot for me…I have no idea…I have doubts. I also doubt myself and feel worthless when going through the job hunting process. I thought going to college and getting a degree would guarantee me a job and I wouldn’t have to do this..I feel like the only one of my friends that is always doing this. I either lose it or need something else, damn you student loans. I love being in the teaching environment also for the breaks. Right now, I am like every kid in the classroom with cabin fever and want to get out! I think I would go crazy in a normal job where I can’t get a break…but I don’t know what I’m supposed to do or where I’m supposed to be and it makes me discouraged and sad. I feel like a failure. I don’t tell you these things to feel sorry for me. I just need to get them off my chest, no matter how many times I’ve said it aloud the feelings are still there and the cycle of the rut continues. I spent over 2 hours yesterday driving around Huntington looking for jobs, getting applications, and even being told no, no one was hiring. In my head, I just want this current job search to be a temp. thing for the summer. I want to come back next year, I want to make a difference in kids’ lives, but at the same time is it feasible. I want to retreat to my porch with Joel and Jadys beside me and the cat in the window watching the world pass by. That’s how annoyed, discouraged, frustrated, worthless I feel.

On a lighter note, spring break is 2 weeks away, our birthdays are next week, opening day is also close, and the weather is just amazing. If I could have this weather every day of the year I would be a happy woman. I love to cook, so add that to the happiness side of things. I am happy, don’t think I’m not. Just confused, upset, and feel unheard.

Our principal is leaving at the end of the year and there are rumors of another school closing. It would just fit my job story if it was mine. I would scream..as loud as I could..until I was horse. I just want to feel like I am contributing. No one makes me feel less of a person, it’s all myself. But how are you supposed to feel when you have so many student loans to pay for every month as a constant reminder of something you’re not. Each one laughing in your face to remind you you’re not what you spent all that money on. Total kick in the face. This too shall pass. God give me strength. I’m still being patient and waiting and willing, sometimes it’s just hard to do.

Day 37:
It was very nice and sunny and warmish on Monday!
37

Day 38:
I spent my workout time on Tuesday trying to find the songs from my Zumba class so I could do them at home. It was hard to do with a good majority of them being spanish songs. I know some spanish but it’s hard when they are singing it really fast!
38

Hiccups By: Jack Prelutsky

I have the hiccup hiccup hiccups
I’ve had hiccup them all day.
They’re persistent hiccup hiccup
and won’t hiccup go away.
I’ve tried gulping hiccup head.
Held my breath until my hiccup face turned hiccup red.

I’ve attempted every hiccup
hiccup hiccup cure I could,
but it hasn’t
hiccup hiccup
done a
hiccup bit of good.
And in fact I think I’m
hiccup
getting
hiccup hiccup worse.
Do I need a
hiccup doctor
or a
hiccup hiccup nurse?

I can feel my hiccup hiccups
down into my
hiccup shoes.
I have
hiccup got the hiccup
hiccup hiccup hiccup blues.
I’m afraid my
hiccup insides
are about to
hiccup hiccups hiccup hiccup stop.

Have a great Wednesday

Day 28:
The finished car seat cover for Jadys! Can’t wait for her to use it!
28.1

The space to put stuff under the cover on the floor
28.2

The clips to hold it on the headrests
28.3

Day 29:
A rare occasion. The cat would rather sit with Joel
29

Day 30:
The bone I made Jadys with practice fabric. I didn’t try to make this look the best because I knew it would get torn apart.
30

Day 31:
Packing to head to my Ohio home. The kitty wanting to be packed too…lol
31.1

31.2

Day 32:
I said goodbye to my neighbor on Wednesday. He was 58 and died suddenly. One of the good things that came out of it was getting to see my Neighbor siblings. We all grew up together and Ryan (below) lives in Missouri and Amanda lives in Florida. So I was glad to see them!
32.1

32.2

Day 33:
My Mom and I had lunch at Skyline on Thursday before I headed home.
33

Day 34:
I really thought I took a photo on Friday, so either I accidentally deleted it or I just thought I did and didn’t take one after all. So, here is one more picture from Wednesday night to take it’s place.
32.4

Day 35:
Lauren and I playing Dance Central 2 with the 3D glasses on. It didn’t make the game in 3D like we hoped.
35

Day 36:
The Giants beat the Pats in the Super Bowl!!!!! I very much dislike the Pats. It also helped that it was a Manning that beat Brady!

Day 23
Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Soo good and easy to make!
23

Day 24
My thread stash thanks to Jeanine!
24

Day 25
Cinnamon Roll Pancakes! Delicious and again easy to make.
25

Day 26
Shortbread Girl Scout Cookies. Probably my favorite next to Thin Mints, but I went with Shortbread this year.
26

Day 27
My newest sewing project! I am making a seat cover for the backseat of the car for Jadys. It will cover the whole backseat and clip on to the headrest creating a hammock type deal. This way we can put things on the floor in the backseat and it wont get covered in dog hair. We use a blanket now, but it’s a thick fleece material and is falling apart..not to mention hard to get the dog hair off. So this one is light weight and will be easy to wash to remove the dog hair. I’m pretty proud of it right now. I’m still not the straightest sower, however I’m still learning. I really like the fabric and I hope it stays pretty. haha So here it is after tonight’s work. I just sewed the 2 fabrics together. It took a long time because I’ve never worked with that much fabric…it’s time consuming to pin all that!
27
As you can see I’m not very good at corners. However, this is the first thing I’ve made with corners. haha
