Fall is slowly creeping in, which means Cross Country Season is upon us. Joel has a great group of guys. Exceptionally polite for high schoolers! On Friday nights there is a team dinner that one of the Seniors parents put on for the team. This is the time where I get to talk to the guys more and get to know them. They always keep me laughing. I enjoy going to their meets and taking pictures of them and watching Joel coach. Here is a picture that I took of some of the varsity guys after the preseason invite at Dekalb. I did a little editing to it as well. The guys had their first official meet on Saturday at home for the Huntington Invite. They had 4 in the top 10, all 7 were in the top 20, and they placed 1st overall. Here is the Varsity with their trophy.
Like I said, the whole team (JV and Varsity) is a great group of guys, and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year!(Remember you can click on the pictures to make them larger.)
The weekend of the 15th, we went to Cincinnati to Dog/Cat sit for my Aunt. Friday, we headed to my parents house and had dinner with them, and I sorted through my stuff animals and “junk” I still had at home to put out for a yard sale my sister was having the following day. After that we headed to my aunts house. She has 2 dogs: Zeppelin, who is a Doberman Pinscher…but not at all scary; and Lucky Lady, who I am not sure what kind of dog she is…they found her on the side of the road a few years ago. Then there is Kipper, their cat (who looks a lot like Buster, Joel’s old cat). All three are inside/outside pets, and they could never make up their mind on if they wanted to be out or not. BUT, they were good none the less (: Saturday night Jon and Luke met us at my Aunts and the 4 of us went to the Reds game. They were playing the Nationals, who happens to have my favorite baseball player and former Reds player, Adam Dunn on their team. Needless to say the Reds got rocked and we left early because I was getting angry at them just watching the ball go by. I did however, get to see Dunn hit a home run, even if he does play for the Nationals. We stay at my Aunts the rest of the weekend and had dinner with my parents on the way back to Huntington. It was a great weekend despite the Reds losing.
I had 2 interviews this past week, both for General Ed. Paraprofessionals – which is basically a Teacher Assistant. But I didn’t get either one. At one of the schools the principal said there was nothing I needed to improve on and that he was very pleased with my interview, but they needed someone with more Special Ed. experience. The other one was at a school that I am at the top of their sub list, and I believe/think I didn’t get the job because they wanted to keep me on as a sub. So I will continue to sub and look elsewhere for a job. It’s just not what God has planned for me right now, but it’s still hard to be so close and not get the job.
